ELIGIBITE
Privacy Policy
Effective June 29, 2026. Eligibite is built to help you shop, not to track you. This policy explains what we collect, what we don’t, and the choices you have.
What we collect
When you check an item, we send its barcode and the U.S. state you selected to our server to look up product details and the applicable SNAP rules. We generate a random device ID used only to limit abuse of our service. If you answer “Was this right at checkout?”, we store that anonymous yes/no with the barcode and state to improve accuracy.
What we do NOT collect
We do not ask for or collect your name, email, phone number, EBT or benefits account, card numbers, or precise location. We do not build a profile of you, and the device ID is not linked to your identity.
Camera
The camera is used only to read a barcode on your device. We do not take, store, or upload photos — only the decoded barcode number is used, exactly as if you had typed it.
On-device data
Your scan history and your saved state are stored on your device, not on our servers. You can clear your history at any time from the Recents tab.
Advertising
Eligibite shows ads through Google AdMob, which may use a mobile advertising identifier to provide and measure ads. On iOS we ask for tracking permission first; you can decline and still use every feature. You can reset or limit ad tracking in your device settings. See Google’s policies for how AdMob handles data.
Services we rely on
To identify products we may send a scanned barcode or product name to data providers — Open Food Facts, UPC Item DB, a retailer catalog such as Kroger when available, and OpenAI for items we can’t otherwise identify. These receive only the barcode or product name, never information about you.
Children
Eligibite is a general-audience shopping tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above and note it in the app. Questions? Contact callmewave@gmail.com.
